ABOUT ME
Christina Swift, LPC, ACC • First and foremost, I am a mother of two. The journey into motherhood and my postpartum experience guided my curiosity and education into the perinatal experience. Before motherhood, life brought me to Naropa University, where I obtained my Master’s degree in Contemplative Psychotherapy: a transcendent experience combining Eastern teachings with modern Western education. It helped develop me into the mindful and highly relational therapist I am today.
Eleven years post-graduate, I have come to love working with individuals and leading process groups. As a trained Perinatal Mental Health counselor, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Addiction Specialist in the state of Colorado, I am passionate about helping others live the lives they desire by reducing suffering and increasing self-acceptance.
Specialties:
Family planning and Prenatal Therapy
Grief and Loss Therapy
Postpartum Therapy
Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy
Group Psychotherapy
All Gender Interpersonal Process Groups
Moms Groups
More information about my experiences, education, and training:
I started my path of being of service at Mother House, a nonprofit providing safe shelter for pregnant women at risk, as a live-in house manager and then a program coordinator. I worked for Mental Health Partners, a community mental health organization, in their Child and Family program, specializing in adolescent and young adult work. I have experience providing life coaching and case management in the addiction field and worked extensively with NorthStar Transitions, eventually into an Assistant Clinical Director role providing individual and group therapy, as well as clinical supervision. Moving into private practice in the spring of 2019 was the perfect next step for my career. It allows for a healthy work-life balance so that I can build supportive and lasting relationships with my clients.
I am trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and support clients by increasing life skills to more effectively engage with themselves and the world (e.g., communication, self-acceptance, stress management, and emotion regulation).
I am trained in Mindfulness-based Techniques for increasing one’s ability to tolerate their own mind, regulate their nervous system, and live more peacefully in the present moment. This also includes somatic work, exploring sensations and feelings in the body.
My professional homes are Postpartum Support International (PSI) and American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA), where I attend annual conferences and stay up to date with current therapy practices.
When not providing therapy, I spend the majority of my free time with my gorgeous children, getting back on the exercise train, and DIY house projects with my partner in crime.
